Bad idea

Buttery popcorn fingers and typing does not work for Matt. On the plus side, the keys have been given a brilliant shine...

Just finished mixing the last of the nine songs we have recorded for our album, with two more that could potentially end up on the final product. We'll attempt to put those to binary this Wednesday.

Time for bed.

Gotta love YouTube

When I'm too lazy to even type a half-ass post, I can just put something like this up:

Shatner rules. It's a fact.

Randomness

If the sky was green and the grass was blue, would my craving for cashews cease to be?

About last night... and the future

The show last night at Bar of Soap was not broadcast. Maybe next time...

Had fun as usual. It's a great place to play. Definitely looking forward going back to le soapy bar on September 13 along with Awesome Can Wait, One Fingered Fist, and Stoogeaphilia. Can wait that long to see us? Catch us at The Fairmount August 14 (same lineup as above, but without ACW). Please come, won't ya?

Thursday, July 17, 2008

Well, can ya?

Packing it in for tonight after doing some mixing. Had Amazing Journey: Story Of The Who playing in the background.

Firing on all cylinders:

"The Real Me"

At play, allowing Keith to live out his Beach Boy fantasy:

"Barbara Ann", Shepperton Studios, 1977

Damn these eyes

Stateside we are a several weeks behind with Doctor Who, which had aired last episode of the series this past week in Britain. I had succumbed to the temptation of reading a few spoilers via the internet (and viewing this week's Graham Norton with Catherine Tate as one of his guest), but I will fight against the urge to watch the episodes which as of yet have aired here in the states. Whether I succeed is a different matter, though...

This week's episode, in six parts.

Part I, "Midnight"

Part II

Part III

Part IV

Part V

Part VI

Next stop: who knows

Working on two new songs that will be added on the forthcoming(!) album. Will be another few weeks - minimum - before we hammer out structures and lyrics for the tunes. I need to take a more relaxed attitude in regards to the release of this project. It's done when it's done. It's done when it's done...

And... relax

What better way to wind down than by watching the Foreman/Lyle fight? Actually a few other things come to mind...

Like a nosefull of Amy Winehouse

Been a bit under the weather for the past couple of days and watching Top Gear right now. Back to la-la-land, where I should be an honorary citizen due to my frequent visits there.

F-f-f-fire!

Oh, the joys of country living. The remoteness, the open fields covered in dry grass...

Around lunchtime today our neighbor across the road had a nice roaring fire in his empty field. We were under order to standby for a possible mandatory evacuation. Luckily, the fire was contained to just a few hundred square yards by the voluntary fire department and extinguished within a couple of hours. The winds were in our favor anyways (okay, a touch of "sucks to be you" syndrome), blowing from the south and not from the west towards us.

Natural gas rigs, hillbilly neighbors, lack of adequate law enforcement, fuel prices, and grass fires fail to make a strong case for rural living.

Hee Haw gone wild

What better way to acknowledge the anniversary of your country's independence than getting drunk and lighting Black Cats with a .357 while blasting down the highway at ninety miles per hour in a three ton grocery hauler?

Drink! Feck! Arse biscuits!

[end father jack mode]

Yesterday I had a chance to meet up with my friend, Ken, at Bull n' Bush to have a couple of drinks and chinwag. It was a great way to kick off the three day weekend.

Hoping to finish recording and mixing the new album in the next few days.

Randomness

You'll never know what is found behind a closed door unless you open it. Or if you have a camera rig set within the room the closed door is obscuring, but you would have to open the door to get inside the room and set up the camera there in the first place. I guess you could have someone else set up a camera in the room for you, which could be all for naught since you could just ask them what was behind the closed door since they would had opened it...

Stupid motivational mumbo-jumbo.

Still a very-nearly-almost. Sort of...

Two versions of lyrics for the new song are being written, neither one completed and neither version flowing very well. Maybe coffee will help get the ol' grey matter, um, er... what was I talking about?

I have a bad habit of not writing down an idea when one comes to me. Stupid, stupid Matt. I love to create lyrics but eight out of ten times it's a slow, tedious process.

Okay, scrapping the two and let's start from square one again.
