Bought a Fender Strat on eBay which arrived yesterday (Okay, shedding the pretentiousness it's actually a bottom line model Fender Starcaster with the big late 60s style Strat headstock. There. Happy?). Starcasters are a snip to pick up, and I managed to get one for $35. Virtually brand new and all in working order... but that may change.
To start with, I'm replacing the plastic nut with graphite, installing an EMG Select in the bridge position, and scalloping the neck (will it transform me into a fretboard speed demon? Um, probably not. Does it throw up the "Blackmore envy" flag? Possibly.). With an accumulation of guitar parts over the years this should be a cheap project.
Famous last words, eh?
