Collect all twelve

"Ampersand" and "50-2-60" are now available for download on Virb.

Great weekend so far. Played two shows with HIO this weekend, the first at 1919 Hemphill on Friday and the second at Phoenix Project on Saturday. The lineup for both shows consisted of Ken, Terry, Marcus, and I. Marcus suffered injuries to his face and hand from a dog attack after Friday's show but still made it out to Dallas. Though unable to play the trombone he commandeered one of Terry's cigar box guitars, a kalimba, and various other instruments to perform with us Saturday. Gotta love the big guy!

The shows? Went very well, me thinks. Looking quite forward to our next show on July 30 at Lola's. Shameless plug? Maybe a bit.

Spot the...

From The Associated Press:

A leading House Republican accused the White House Thursday of a "$20 billion shakedown" by requiring BP to establish a huge fund to compensate those hurt by the Gulf Coast oil spill. Rep. Joe Barton of Texas spoke at the start of a House hearing where Hayward appeared for the first time before Congress. Rep. Ed Markey sharply disagreed with Barton, saying the fund was government working to protect the nation's most vulnerable citizens. White House press secretary Robert Gibbs responded: "What is shameful is that Joe Barton seems to have more concern for big corporations that caused this disaster than the fishermen, small business owners and communities whose lives have been devastated by the destruction."

Uploaded ten of the twelve tracks I've earmarked for Research and Development: 2006-2009, a collection of singles recorded under the JATSDFM moniker. Once the allocation for uploads on Virb resets this weekend the remaining two tracks ("50-2-60" and "Ampersand") will be available for download. Just as the last few releases this one is free.

Bon apetite, or here's to finding a stomach pump quickly...

Hello, kitty (and kittens)

While loading hay into the barn yesterday evening I heard a sound coming from the shed. Upon investigating Carey and I found our resident feline stray nesting in the lawnmower bag with four kittens about three to four days old, three which were still alive but overheating in the sweltering lean-to. Carey set out some water and food for the mother and helped relocate the kittens, taking the most distressed one indoors to bottle feed and care for. In an effort to help control the feral feline population we will attempt to capture the female and have her spayed. We'll also attempt to gather any of the other kittens that survive when they're a tad older for spay/neutering and finding homes for them.

Here be the newest member of the household:

That's a humdinger

Contrary to, er, facts, Jimmy Stewart is alive and well... and a Stooges fan. His collaboration with HIO from last Thursday is available on Virb.

Sparky not included.

A Brief Moment

And... done! New track available for download at Virb. I would elaborate more, and would have tried to write something witty, but the old brain has checked out here in the wee hours. I'm on the verge-

And a Friday, too

Received a text from Terry around 11:30 letting me know that he and Ken were at the Lisa's Fried Chicken across the road from my office, re-energizing from their walk around the area. I had the fried catfish combo which was quite tasty and surprisingly not greasy, though I'm sure it was still packing some pretty serious calories (especially with the side of fried okra, buttery green beans, and roll). First time I've been to a Lisa's. Will have to visit again soon.

Got back to the office and continued the work on "Operation: Jimmy Stewart". Slow day? You betcha.

A Thursday in review

Went to Ken and Kat's for bison burgers they prepared, which were quite good. Mr. Horn was also there to partake in the discussions covering the Tom Verlaine/Kat connection, paper mache, Rolling Stones albums, the similarities between Glen Campbell's face and an anus, Hank Williams' songs, and cats that resemble Hitler or Roy Wood. Fun, fun times.

Sounds on the rounds

For the commute today: Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies (1973). Ezrin's masterpiece, and the catalyst for the band's return to a more stripped down approach on the following album (and last for the original group), Muscle of Love (1973).
