Fly the eagle and start all over again

On Tuesday, HIO (consisting of Ken, Terry, and I) recorded at the home of the bearded scribe... er, Mr. Shimamoto. It was the commencement of "Operation: Reset", an exercise to break our habit of utilizing the same instruments and formulas that each of us had latched onto as a security blanket for the last year or so. Mr. Horn left the laptop at home and my gopichand was nowhere in sight, while Ken had not a fan in hand. The session was fun, loose, and different. Three for three. A good day, indeed.

One for the memories

'Twas a very wonderful Christmas. Got to spend most of the day with Kat and Ken at their adobe. Kat made an awesome full English breakfast for lunch, which was followed by six hours of Diana Rigg a la The Avengers for dessert. What better way is there to spend the hols with friends? File in the memories under "G" for "Good".

The eve of the eve of Christmas Eve

Utilizing some dosh from a holiday bonus, I ordered a Korg SP-250 from Musician's Friend this past weekend... and it arrived yesterday afternoon! I've wanted one for a few years now, and finally had a financial window of opportunity (no vehicle, house, or pet malfunctions lately) to acquire one. Huzzah, huzzah!

Repeatitude

For the commute today. Posted these videos before, which I'm sure most people/person/imaginary friend/spambots wouldn't had noticed.

Ramble-lamble-fa-fa-fa

Please don't sue, Mr. Kramer (as if he would read this blog... )!

Been "spinning my wheels" in regards to the latest JATSDFM projects in the works. I am attempting to create two separate albums simultaneously in order to satisfy a dichotomy of ideas and emotions that I have been experiencing lately. As one can imagine - particularly if one keeps in mind my absolute ineptness at multitasking - the endeavors have been chaotic and unfruitful. Yesterday was a turning point, and the wheels seemed to have gained some traction.

Oh, idiom, idiom, idiom...

Watching The Queen at the moment, which is funny because for the past couple of weeks I've been replaying Eddie Izzard's evaluation of Prince Philip over and over in the noggin for no apparent reason (since it's been a few years that I have last watched Glorious). It's all happening at my house, yes?

Officially resigned from the human race. This weekend cannot end fast enough for me.

Craving borscht...

But having a Slim Jim instead. Another great find via Continuo's weblog has given the ears something to aurally feast upon in the form of Russian composer Vyacheslav Artyomov's Hymns of Sudden Wafts (1991). The album actually consists of two compositions that were not released when they were originally recorded ("Hymns of Sudden Wafts" and "Sonata of Meditations" were recorded in 1983 and 1978, respectively) due to the composer's blacklisting by the Union of Composers at the time. Since there is not a video on YouTube that represents the music of Artyomov from this period, you shall be given...

A sanguine Sunday

Worked on some ideas for a new project in progress most of the morning and afternoon. Got to spend time with Kat and Ken for a lovely Sunday dinner and partake in The Avengers marathon. A good day, indeed.

In a land down under

Huzzah! JATSDFM has made it onto a year end top ten list, thanks to best pal/cohort Mr. Ken. Check it.

The Saturday shuffle

The weekend ritual of brekkie (today: toast, yogurt, and coffee) with some tunes on the stereo before the commencement of recording. A few tunes from the albums spun this morning.

The wide world of randomness

Skunk spray smells like Italian sausage in a confined area and premium coffee in the open.

Lazy postitude

As my head has turned into a mucous machine, and there has been even less to write about lately, I shall present thee a music video via YouTube. Remember to pay it forward:
