Warning: bit of a whinging rant ahead

Whenever I listen to PJ Harvey's Let England Shake or any of Amiina's releases, the question of "Why bother?" comes to mind. I cannot but compare my creations over the years to these artifacts of perfection and view myself as a failure. The output of these artists have achieved the sounds in which I have sought to create myself, yet the drive to create continues. A bane and a catharsis... damn you, ambivalence!

Releases galore

Two new live albums from HIO and a track under the JATSDFM moniker were released this week. Hentai Is Forever captures the last live performance (so far) of the bearded scribe with the group, and The Sounds of Thursday: Live at The Grotto, 15 November 2012 was recorded at The Grotto in Fort Worth, well, last Thursday. The JATSDFM track, "A Dream Over the Atlantic", was mixed last night utilizing the raw bass and guitar tracks from "Alfaab", and an unused drum sample that I built earlier this year... somewhat tweaked (aka "the treatment").

Bon apetite!

Slapdash

Cobbled together a tune over the past weekend utilizing a few undeveloped tracks that I recorded last November and earlier this year. Added a couple synth parts and lyrics (which drew inspiration from a review of the movie, Cruel Intentions. The things one is lead to while surfing the web... ). Just finished some minor tweaking to the mix including the removal of the excessive tape noise, which was quite prevalent on the original mix.
